in Rome has really taken off in the last few years and Italy's
performance in the six nations has steadily improved. Every
even year 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014 England and Scotland play
Italy in Rome, whereas in the odd years i.e. 2009, 2011, 2013,
2015 it's Italy v Ireland, Italy v Wales and the big one Italy
versus their traditional rivals France. All Italy's 6 Nations
rugby matches in Rome are played at the Stadio Flaminio which
holds approximately 23 thousand spectators... the Stadio Flaminio
used to be the home ground for Lazio until the 1930's when
Mussolini built the Olympic Stadium which is only a couple
of kilometeres away and has a capacity of 86 thousand. If
Rugby in Rome and Italy continues to increase in popularity
there is talk that they may move future games to the Olympic
Stadium to accommodate all of the supporters... it remains
to be seen whether Lazio and Roma football clubs agree to
the proposed switch...

Horse Racing Rome - Rome's racetrack located on near the
Via Appia towards Ciampino airport. There's about 6 to 8 horse
races almost every Sunday apart from July and August and this
brand new modern complex offers state of the art facilities
for both great viewing, betting and catering facilities. Enjoy
a slap up meal whilst watching the horse race on your own
personal tv monitor or enjoy the buzz of the race by going
trackside where you can mingle with Rome's jet set whilst
watching the race on the huge screen erected just recently
in the middle of the Race Track. It's only a few euro to get
in and so if you are looking for something totally different
to do in Rome then a day at the races is the perfect solution.
