Sorrento Hotels

In the south side of the Bay of Naples in the southern Italian region of Campania lies the picturesque and historical town of Sorrento. Overlooking the Bay and of course, the city of Naples (Napoli), this small but idyllic place is one of Italy’s premier tourist destinations thanks to its handy location in a region with everything that the south of Italy is famous for – the clear, warm waters of the Mediterranean Sea, arguably the finest cuisine in the world (particularly seafood) and that unmistakeable southern Italian hospitality and way of life that allows people here more longevity than anywhere else in the world.

The Amalfi Drive leading from the town along the cliff edge to the Amalfi Coast has been used in numerous films; Mount Vesuvius – the devastating volcano that destroyed the city of Pompeii back in 70 AD.

The perfectly preserved ruins of Pompeii are a short car journey away, as are those of Ercolana, another town destroyed by the volcano although less well preserved. A short ferry ride takes us to the sublime islands of Capri or Ischia and a 2-hour train ride takes us to Rome – the eternal city and unforgettable capital of Italy.
