Venice's main island is a very small area of land therefore its hotels tend
to be petite and the rooms similarly so. Also, as Venice is
very popular with tourists, it is highly adviseable that you book your hotel well in advance,
as during the peak months (September, October, April to
June and carnival period in February) it can be very
hard to find a room at any price!
Santa
Croce, the area immediately in front of the train station
on the other side of the Grand Canal, with its winding alleys, quiet canals
and gondoliers, is perhaps one of most romantic
and best value for money areas in town!
