» Castroni
- High end international food store and coffee specialists.
Castroni not only sells classic treats from back home like
baked beans and HP sauce but they always have a fine (though
expensive) collection of artisan liquors as well as cheeses,
hams, salames and the like - ideal gifts for loved ones back
home.
» Another place to get international
foodstuff is in the Conad supermarket on the underground level
of Termini Station, while outside Termini on the Via Giolitti
side you'll find Rome's most international neighbourhood all
based around Piazza Vittorio Emanuele - Chinese, Korean and
Indian supermarkets and fast food and some of the best kebabs
in town.
» For fine Italian fresh produce, visit
the market by Arco di Travertino Metro (Line A) every day
until 1pm, where farmers from the Castelli Romani townships
outside the city sell their produce.
» To avoid plastic pizza and
extortionate prices, steer clear of Pizza-by-the-slice (Pizza
al Taglio) in the historical centre.
